Student leaders are role models for our student community. At Flinders, our leaders learn how to step into their important role to guide their fellow students with kindness, consideration and encouragement.

Our leaders uphold our College values of Courage, Respect, Integrity and Compassion. These values are important for our Flinders graduates as they strive to build a successful future with positive relationships in their life and career beyond the College gates.

There are many opportunities to lead at Flinders, whether as College Captains across the Sub-Schools and Primary and Secondary campuses, House Captains, Student and Staff Council Representatives, Round Square Ambassadors, Co-Curricular Captains, including Music and Sport Captains, and more.

Our College also encourages students to lead in terms of their 'personal brand' and to lead within their families, friendships groups and communities. Students learn that leadership does not always come with an official honour or badge; it is the way we lead our own lives by making positive and kind choices in learning and life that enables us all to succeed.

What is the most exciting thing about being a school captain?

I'm looking forward to engaging more with the younger grades and being someone they can turn to if they need anything. I am also keen to hear different ideas to lift the school culture and overall make Flinders a better place. I'm also looking forward to working with the Prefects and teachers in charge to make things happen.

What one thing do you want to achieve for your school this year?

To set an example for students and encourage them to take pride in themselves as well as their school. I want students to feel like they all have a place and contribute to the Flinders community, so working with the Prefects to help students gain the confidence to push themselves outside of their comfort zone is a big goal for us this year.

- Thomas Basford, 2024 College Leader

What is the most exciting thing about being a school captain?

I'm excited to have a position and opportunity to contribute to our College. I feel privileged to assume a platform where I can uplift others, incite positive change and foster a spirited culture where everyone feels heard, supported and valued. I'm grateful for the opportunity to embody and promote our College values, while helping instil them in younger year levels.

What one thing do you want to achieve for your school this year?

My primary goal is to help introduce recycling bins and containers for change around our school campus, but I'm constantly aspiring to maintain a positive influence, assisting everyone I can to feel pride, confidence and excitement in their abilities.

- Stephanie Ktenidis, 2024 College Leader
